Description
Wells Fargo Commemoratives. This lot includes: a Franklin Mint sterling silver bar issued in 1972 as part of a 50-state series, housed in the original box and weighing 2.083 troy ounces (marked Wells, Fargo & Co. and depicting their trademark stagecoach), a 39 mm. (1 5/8")silver medal issued for the 50th anniversary of the company on March 18, 1902 and given to employees with at least one year's standing (EF, nicely toned, showing a stagecoach under attack by outlaws, a Pony Express rider under attack by an Indian with bow & arrow and an express train) and a "Wells Fargo Presentation Watch Limited and Numbered Edition of 1852" in the original packaging and case. It is number 1822 out of an edition of 1852. The case and covers are gold plated. It has a "precision, spring wound, full 17 jewel Swiss movement" and was copied from a watch presented to a Wells Fargo employee in 1873 who thwarted a robbery. Another watch was presented in 1883 to George Hackett who turned out to be the only man to foil the legendary "Black Bart".
