California Gold Rush Banking Document. This 4.25" x 3.5" receipt was issued by A. Delano, a banker of Grass Valley, California. Dated January 22, 1867, it acknowledges the purchase of 8 ounces of gold dust from W. Biggs at $16.25 an ounce. The transaction required the payment of 80-cents in Federal taxes.Auction Info
