Wyeth Hardware of St. Joseph, Missouri: Single Loop Side Holster and Unmarked Money Belt. The rig has a border tooled hand-stamped single loop skirting leather holster for a 7½" Colt SAA .44 caliber pistol. The money belt measures 35½" to the original middle hole on the belt strap and adjusts down to 33¾" at the smallest and up to 37½" at the longest. Four later holes were punched in the tongue billet, two professional holes at 32¾" and 33½", and, two crude holes at 34¾" and 35¼". There is a row of cartridge loops for thirty-six individual .44 caliber rounds. The skirt under the capped toe is marked "Wyeth/ Hdw & Mfg. Co./ St. Joseph, Mo." in a cartouche and "949 7 2". The Wyeth Hardware Co. of St Joseph, Missouri was established in the 1800s and makers of wagon wheels and leather goods such as harness, saddles, and holsters. The 3" unmarked money belt has a nickel buckle. The holster shows honest wear with some weakness and splitting of the cartridge loops. The holster has minor cracking, else fine with a lovely patina.
