Description

W. B. Ten Eyck of Billings, Montana Territory: Single Loop Side Holster and Money Belt, Circa 1880-1900. A wide single loop border tooled holster for a 4¾" Colt SAA .44/45 caliber pistol and a wide belt. The holster has a hand-stitched toe cap. The single strap money belt measures from 31" at the smallest up to 34" at the largest original holes. There are later holes punched at 35¾" and 37", and cartridge loops for thirty-five individual .44/45 caliber rounds. The top of the holster is stamped "W. B. Ten Eyck/ Billings, M. T.". William B. Ten Eyck was well known for creating distinctive holsters and saddles, both of which are highly prized. He died in August 1929 in Billings, from a gunshot wound. The 2¾" belt is unmarked. The strap holding the silvered buckle is unstitched. The holster shows only moderate wear and has a lovely dark patina.
