Description
Rare Crockett Cheyenne Split-Band Spurs.2-inch, 10-point rowels. Drop shank with scalloped chap guard. 1-inch heel bands. Each spur mounted with rocker-engraved silver spots from rowel pin cover to end of split bands. See nearly identical example in "Bits & Spurs In The Texas Tradition" by Adamson, House and Martin, page 119. "Big inside mark" measures 1 1/4-inches and dates this pair to 1925-35. Sold together with vintage relief-carved two-piece leathers. Big nickel concha is floral and rocker-engraved in the Crockett style.
Provenance: Roger and Linda Carpenter Collection.
Condition: Very good. Overlays retain nearly all of their fine detail with scattered dents. Steel surfaces with a pleasing smooth brown age patina with some patches of fine pitting. Leather is good being mostly supple but with some dryness. Crackling to stress areas. Each with repair to concha loop.
