"Cowboy Poet" Lysius Gough's very scarce first collection of poetry. In 1876, at just fourteen years old, Gough ran away from home and found work as a cattle driver—a decade later, he published this volume, capturing in verse his experiences among cowhands on the Texan frontier. In 1935, Gough published another collection of poetry titled Spur Jingles and Saddle Songs, which included many of the poems from this earlier work.
