Description

Double Mounted Spurs by C.P. Shipley.
This design is listed as "Style R" in Bischoff's catalog and was likely produced circa 1916 when Bischoff (after selling out) was working for Shipley in Kansas City. Inside the heel band of each spur are the markings: C.P. SHIPLEY KAN. CITY MO. 1 1/2-inch 8-point rowels on 2 3/4-inch straight shanks. Arrow-shaped engraved silver overlays with copper circles. 3/4-inch heel bands with rocker engraved overlays with floral engraved copper circles. Fixed buttons and hand-tooled, basket-weave brown leather straps with roller buckles. See page 213 of Bit And Spur Makers In The Texas Tradition by Martin and House for nearly identical example.

Condition: Good. Bright overlays showing some wear. Scattered pitting to steel. Leathers fine.

Provenance: Roger and Linda Carpenter Collection.
