Autograph Letter Signed by Texas Ranger & Sheriff Pat Dolan. Pat Dolan Autograph Letter Signed "Pat Dolan". One page 8" x 9.50"personnel letter about ranch. Letter dated 1892 from "Fort Davis" (Texas) which states in full - Mssrs. Humphries & Co. Gentlemen, if you have not sent my goods out to the ranch, don't send them until I get some wire from Alpine when all can be sent together, Very respectfully, Pat Dolan.

Pat Dolan born in Ireland came to the States 1850. His first service to the land of his adoption was in the Union Army during the Civil war. In 1867 he lived in Fort Davis, Texas, and was a civilian employee with the troops stationed there. In 1873 he was elected sheriff of Uvalde County, which office he resigned to enter the Ranger service in 1874, first as lieutenant and later as captain, continuing in the service until 1879, when he resigned to engage in the cattle business. Later he served as sheriff of Jeff Davis County after it was cut off from Presidio County.

Fine-very fine, has tear bottom left edge, punch holes top.
