Southern Pacific Rail Road Company Stock Certificate 1871. One page. Horizontal 11.25" x 6". December 18, 1871. Endorsed by the company's secretary and vice president. Indian and train vignette. Paper slightly age-toned, with old fold creases; else near fine.The company was originally chartered in California on December 2, 1865, from which date until 1902, a total of seven Southern Pacific Railroad companies were chartered and operated. Through a series of well-executed business decisions, the Southern Pacific created a railroad empire stretching from the mid-west to the Pacific coast.
