Description

U. S. Mint: Silver Lifesaving Medal in Original Box. 45 mm. silver medal with scene of a sea nymph rescuing a drowning man on the obverse, inscribed "United States of America. Act of Congress June 20, 1874". The reverse is inscribed: "In Testimony of Heroic Deeds in Saving Life From the Perils of the Sea" and, within a wreath, a presentation inscription: "To Roy E. Hamlin For Bravely Rescuing a Shipmate From Drowning January 6, 1921." Suspended from silver eagle hanger and blue grosgrain silk ribbon with brooch attachment. UNC condition with matte finish. A handsome piece.
