Description
R.M.S. Lusitania: Pre-Sinking Steamer Trunk. 32" x 18" x 21" wooden steamer trunk with metal hardware and inner tray. The contents include a green canvas US military duffle bag owned by "Gerald R. Wheezer AF-11484727", a US Air Force overcoat with one shoulder patch and a British military overcoat. The overcoats need cleaning and apparently have been stored in this trunk since the end of WWII. They are mentioned in passing, as the main value to this trunk is the applied end label that reads "Lusitania New Y[incomplete]". We also include an 8" x 13" booklet published in 1915 titled "Shipping Casualties. (Loss of the Steamship 'Lusitania.')" There are remnants of old steamship labels on the exterior. The trunk itself is generally in good condition with normal wear and surface rust to the metal components. It has one metal handle, but the leather handles are absent. The Eric C.
