Description

Wright Flyer Wing Fabric Segment Flown as Part of the First Successful Powered Controlled Flight in History at Kitty Hawk in 1903, Certified by CAG. A 15mm x 28mm segment of muslin cloth removed from the legendary plane by Orville Wright who bequeathed it to aviation expert Lester Gardner. Renowned aviation history collector Otto Kallir acquired the fabric from Gardner and it was used to construct a 1:42 model of the Wright Flyer. When this model was recently sold at auction, it was severely damaged in shipping. CAG expertly removed the cloth from the wings and divided it into smaller pieces to allow more collectors to own such an important piece of human history.

Condition: Cloth appears bright with only minor age, overall a very fine example.
