Description

Superb Large Model of a Pan American Airways Douglas DC-3. This fabulous model of the venerable DC-3 has been expertly rendered sparing no attention to detail. The model has been constructed using light fabric (or paper) over wood stringers. The fuselage measures 26" and the total wingspan is about 39". The landing gear struts are meticulously detailed in metal and the tires are made of soft rubber. The ailerons, elevators, and rudder are moveable and the propellers spin freely. The wings detach at the roots to make storage and transport easier. The model is painted silver overall and finished in the livery of Pan American Airways (NC33611). The aircraft depicted by this model was delivered to Pan American in 1941 and crashed while taking off at Piarco Airport, Port of Spain Trinidad on June 4, 1945. Other than some trivial scuffs to the paint this exceptional model is in fine condition.
