Description

Hindenburg Disaster: Two Forks Retrieved from the Wreckage. Pair of silver plate forks, 7" and 8 1/4" long, each with molten metal encrustations. The handles depict the globe with a dirigible superimposed and the initials D.Z.R. ("Deutsche Zeppelin Reederei" or German Zeppelin Transport Company). They were the operators of the Hindenburg at the time of its destruction in Lakehurst, New Jersey in 1937. The stem of the forks is stamped "Bruckmann 100". Here is that rare instance where bad condition is a good thing!
