Description

Fantastic Large Archive of Zeppelin Postcards, Postal Covers, and Silver Bromide Cigarette Card Photos, Circa 1909-1931. An impressive archive of over sixty individual photographs and post cards featuring German zeppelins in war and peace. The lot includes twenty-four 6.25" x 4.25" silver bromide, black and white photographs comprising Zeppelin Series Nr. 1 through Nr. 4 issued in the "Zeppelin Weltfahrten" series of cigarette cards. All examples are slightly curved, as normal but are in fine condition. Also included are several zeppelin-flown covers and cards including examples from the Graf Zeppelin's polar flight in 1931, South American flight 1931, and several of her European flights including Russia, and Switzerland. There are two Hindenburg examples but both pre-date her destruction at Lakehurst. There are many real photo post cards as well as many illustrated post cards. All examples are in fine condition making this a superb archive chronicling the history of the zeppelin from about the time of the turn of the century until the pre-WWII years.
