Description
Dirigible LZ-129 Hindenburg: Four sections of Aluminum Framework. The relics range in size from 2 ⅞" to the largest measuring 16" x 4". The pieces of the frame are shockingly lightweight. The items have been passed down through the family of Valentine Pasvolsky who worked as the township engineer for Lakewood, New Jersey. When he arrived at the scene of the disaster he began transporting individuals from the site to the nearest hospital in Paul Kimball Hospital in Lakewood. After taking care of the injured he assisted in the investigation and the clean up of the Hindenburg and kept these relics as a remembrance of the tragic event. The consignor remembers their grandfather telling the story of the Hindenburg and pulling out these items as proof of his involvement. The pieces have clearly been in an explosion as metal is warped and scarred from the fire.Provenance: Letter from the Grandson.
