Description
Charles Lindbergh: Bruno Hauptmann Trial. There are twenty-one press photos of various sizes covering the evidence and participants in the trial of Bruno Hauptmann for the kidnapping and murder of the Lindbergh baby. There is one duplicate photo. They all date from the early 1930s (1930-1935). This trial was a national sensation. Hauptmann claimed he was holding money for two friends who went back to Germany and that he had nothing to do with the kidnapping. He was electrocuted in 1936. His widow lobbied for a reversal of the conviction until her dying day. The images are in generally very fine Conditon with two exceptions. It is accompanied by nine 4" x 5" silver nitrate negatives of the baby and a copy of the November 1930 "Pictorial Review" that features an interview with Lindbergh during happier times.Auction Info
