Airship Disasters: Assorted Relics Including the Hindenburg. 1) 8 1/2" x 8 1/4" glazed, waterproof cotton, part of the fuselage of the dirigible "Shenandoah" which crashed at Ada, Ohio on September 3, 1925, killing fourteen people. Mounted to Masonite with caption card alongside. 2) 5" x 8" section of the outer skin on the "Shenandoah" painted black and silver, together with the envelope that housed it. 3) 7" x 3 1/4" folded section of fuselage with a smaller section of dried Navy paste, together with envelope indicating they originated on the "Akron" which crashed off the coast of New Jersey on April 3, 1933, with the loss of about ninety lives. 4) 8 1/2" x 9" canvas & metal section of the "air baffeling from the interior of the Hindenburg... found after the crash at the crash site Lakehurst, New Jersey", as described on an accompanying Letter of Authenticity from dealer Barry A. Smith of Greensboro, North Carolina. Scorch marks are evident on one side.
