Hand Illustrated cover, nicely executed in pen & ink featuring a battle scene between mainly mounted troops and a native army with spears and shields (possibly Omdurman/Khartoum Sudan which took place in September of 1898), franked with a 1d Purple tied by Framingham D11 duplex, Ap 2, 99, the reverse depicts a fiercely madeup native warrior and has a London receiving date stamp, Very Fine and quite desirable.Estimate $500+
