Apollo 8 Flown American Flag and Mission Insignia Patch Directly from the Family Collection of Mission Support Crew Member Vance Brand. This 5.875" x 3.875" cloth U.S. flag and 4.375" x 4.125" triangular-shaped embroidered mission patch, both flown in orbit around the moon on man's first mission there, have been mounted to a 13" x 10" (sight size) parchment-type paper. Beneath the flag is printed "To Vance Brand,/ Thanks for all your help" with the crew's signatures below: "Frank Borman", "James Lovell", and "Bill Anders". To the right, the certificate reads: "Carried on Board Apollo 8/ First Lunar Flight/ 21 - 27 December, 1968". Framed to an overall 16" x 13". Excellent condition save for some scratching on the frame.
