The Soviet equivalent to our "Mercury Seven"
Vostok Cosmonauts: Large Photo Posed at Lenin's Mausoleum,
Signed by the USSR's First Six in Space, with Certificate of
Authenticity from PSA/DNA. A vintage 15.75" x 11.5" glossy
gelatin silver print photograph, signed in Cyrillic in various inks
by all six cosmonauts along the bottom border. As follows.Yuri Gagarin - Vostok 1 (First human in space, April 12, 1961).
Gherman Titov - Vostok 2 (Second human in orbit, August 6-7, 1961).
Andrian Nikolayev - Vostok 3 (August 11-15, 1962).
Pavel Popovich - Vostok 4 (August 12-15, 1962).
Valery Bykovsky - Vostok 5 (June 14-19, 1963).
Valentina Tereshkova - Vostok 6 (First woman in space, June 16-19, 1963).
This press photograph shows the USSR's first six flown cosmonauts standing on the viewing platform of Lenin's Mausoleum in Red Square, Moscow, saluting an unseen parade or crowd. The image captures an iconic early moment of the Soviet space program, symbolizing the USSR's triumph in the Space Race and its human spaceflight milestones from 1961 to 1963. This lineup represents the entire roster of flown Soviet cosmonauts before Voskhod and Soyuz missions expanded the corps. The photograph likely dates from a public event or May Day parade soon after Tereshkova's 1963 flight, when all six were presented as national heroes. The first time Heritage has offered this particular photo signed or any photo of this large size signed. Excellent save for a minor tear at lower right border. PSA/DNA COA included.
A remarkable and complete grouping of the USSR's first generation of space travelers, symbolizing the dawn of human space exploration. Photographs jointly signed by all six are exceptionally scarce- particularly with clear autographs and period authenticity.
