Neil Armstrong and Eight Additional X-15 Pilots Signed Color Photo. A 10" x 8" glossy photo of a parked NASA / Air Force X-15 rocket-powered aircraft with technicians examining the cockpit area. Nine of the twelve men to have ever flown this plane have boldly signed around its image (alphabetical order):Neil Armstrong: Seven total flights, signed in black "Neil Armstrong". Astronaut.
Scott Crossfield: Fourteen total flights, signed in black "Scott Crossfield". He has signed over a previous signature that was running out of ink.
William H. Dana: Sixteen total flights. Signed in black ink: "Bill Dana". Astronaut wings earned.
Joseph H. Engle: Sixteen total flights. Signed in black ink: "Joe Engle". Astronaut wings earned. Astronaut.
William J. Knight: Sixteen total flights. Signed in black ink: "Pete Knight". Astronaut wings earned.
Forrest S. Peterson: Five total flights. Signed in blue ink: "Forrest S. Peterson".

The X-15 rocket-powered aircraft set numerous speed and altitude records in the 1960s, reaching the edge of space and bringing back valuable data for use in developing later aircraft and spacecraft. NASA awards astronaut wings to anyone who flies above fifty miles altitude and five of these qualified. Of course, Neil Armstrong and Joe Engle participated also in the U.S. space program, earning their astronaut wings later. This is the nicest X-15 piece Heritage has had the privilege to offer. Don't miss this one. Very fine with a barely-noticeable vertical crease.
