Description
NASA Groups Four and Five Astronauts Field Training Photo Signed. A 10" x 8" NASA B&W photo picturing nine astronauts out of doors in jump suits standing with a native man wearing a breechcloth. All nine pictured astronauts have signed, as follows: "Ed Gibson", "Fred W. Haise", "Bruce McCandless II", "John S. Bull" (1934-208), "Jack Lousma", "Vance Brand", "Charlie Duke", "Don Lind", and "Jack Swigert" (1931-1982). McCandless has added an inscription below: "Para Antonio- Con los mas sinceros recuerdos-" (For Antonio, with most sincere memories). All of the above astronauts (except Gibson- Group Four) were in the NASA Group Five, chosen April 4, 1966. This photo was almost certainly taken at one of the Geology Field Exercises held later that year. Eight of the nine pictured would eventually travel into space (Bull was grounded due to a medical condition) and one, Charlie Duke, would walk on the moon. Excellent condition.Auction Info
