Description
Mercury Seven Astronauts: Photo Signed by All, Originally from the Personal Collection of Deke Slayton. A 1960-vintage NASA 8" x 10" B&W glossy montage photo, B-60-785, of an Atlas rocket ("Big Joe") with the images of each astronaut around. Each has neatly signed in black ink on their image, as follows: "Donald K, Slayton", "Alan B. Shepard", "Walter M Schirra", "Scott Carpenter", Leroy G Cooper Jr", "John H. Glenn Jr", and "Virgil I Grissom". Note the early, formal versions of their signatures with none of the later nicknames such as "Deke," "Wally," and "Gus." Purple ink printed caption in verso. The first of this particular signed image that Heritage has handled. Light emulsion cracks at lower right margin, otherwise excellent.Auction Info
