Magnificent "Mercury Seven" display
Mercury Seven Astronauts: Large Color Photo Signed by All on Mat. Offered here is a 13.25" x 10.5" color glossy photo of the original seven astronauts posed in flight suits beside an Air Force F-106B jet aircraft mounted to a 19.5" x 15.5" (sight size) matboard and framed (no glass) to an overall 22.5" x 18.5". Above the photo is the inscription: "To Pat with highest regards & thanks for your superb/ support since the good old days-/ DS [Deke Slayton]". Beneath are the signatures of all seven: "Gordon Cooper", "Gus Grissom", "Alan B Shepard Jr", "M. Scott Carpenter", "J H Glenn. Jr.", "W M Schirra Jr", and "Donald K. Slayton". A fabulous and desirable display given to an early NASA insider (who possibly took this very photograph). As is generally the case, the photo has faded somewhat and exhibits craquelure on the surface. There is also a barely-noticeable line of liquid that has dripped down from Shepard's helmet, likely could be mitigated by a restorer. Of course, the photo could be replaced with a modern print if the winning bidder so desires. The signatures are all clear and visible though the Schirra and Slayton are a bit light. Overall fine.
