Description

Mercury-Redstone 3: Seven Vintage Glossy Photos of the Final Flight Simulation with Glenn and Grissom Examining the Capsule, all from the Personal Archives of NASA Legend Bill Taub. Ranging in size from 7" x 10" to 8" x 10.75", these B&W candid prints were all taken on or about April 29, 1961, the date of the final simulation of the mated launch vehicle. Three show Gus Grissom, one also with John Glenn. None have press captions and none are numbered. One with a major crease, the balance generally excellent.

NOTE: The photos from this archive were the inspiration for the recent book by J. L. Pickering and John Bisney, Photographing America's First Astronauts, Project Mercury Through the Lens of Bill Taub. A beautiful book from the Purdue University Press. Highly recommended. From the Collection of J. L. Pickering
