Description

Gene Kranz Signed Apollo 11 Mission Control Photo, with Added Comments. A 10" x 8" glossy B&W photo on Fujicolor Crystal Archive paper of Kranz at the console during this landmark mission. Signed in blue felt tip: "Mission Control - July 69/ Eugene F. Kranz/ 'White' Flight". Desirable as signed. Not common. Excellent.

Kranz served as a Flight Director during the Apollo 11 mission. Specifically, he led the White Team, the shift of flight controllers responsible for the most critical phase of the mission: the lunar descent and landing. His role went far beyond just supervision; he was the ultimate decision-maker on the ground during the landing. His key responsibilities included: the final "Go" for landing; managing program alarms; and monitoring fuel levels. Kranz is most historically associated with the landing itself because he was the "conductor" in the room when humanity first reached the Moon.
