Signed, handwritten quotes from every member of a most exclusive group.
Apollo Moonwalkers: Twelve Individual Lunar Surface Astronaut Photos, each Individually Captioned and Signed on the Mat. An incredibly amazing and unique assemblage of photos, each matted and presented to the pictured astronaut with the request to essentially caption and sign beneath the image on the mat. These were compiled by one patient and creative collector over a period of many years, some obtained through the mail and some at private signings. None are inscribed. Following is a list of each item in order of stepping on the moon:(1) "Mid-Morning at Tranquility Base-/ Neil Armstrong/ Apollo 11". Mat size: 13" x 12".
(2) "No Dream is too High/ For Those with Their/ Eyes in the Sky/ The Next Goal of Our/ Should be Mars/ Buzz Aldrin/ Apollo XI". Mat size: 13" x 15".
(3) "I'm flattered that you want this picture of/ me - the only trouble is the Astronaut in the picture/ is Alan Bean and I'm the photographer. This was/ taken early in the mission and is the ALSEP package which/ sent data back to the earth for years after our departure./ With best wishes/ Charles Conrad Jr Cdr Apollo XII". Mat size: 13" x 12".
(4) "Pete & Me on the/ Ocean of Storms, November/ 1969. I'm the guy with the/ sample container in his hand./ Alan Bean, Apollo XII". Mat size: 13.5" x 13.5".
(5) "Lunar Golf Shot/ 2-5-71 Apollo 14/ When one is on the moon,/ the ball goes 6 times the distance!/ Best wishes/ Alan Shepard". Mat size: 14" x 11.5".
(6) "Science at Fra Mauro/ Edgar Mitchell/ Apollo 14". Mat size: 14" x 13".
(7) "Man must Explore - And This is Exploration at its Greatest!/ Dave Scott/ Apollo 15 CDR". Mat size: 13.75" x 10.75". Includes a Certificate of Authenticity from Aurora from a 2003 private signing.
(8) "I will Lift up my Eyes unto the Hills, from Whence/ Cometh my Help?/ Aug 1971/ Jim Irwin Apollo 15/ High Flight Foundation". Mat size: 13" x 15".
(9) "John Young/ 'It wasn't fast, but it sure beats walking'". Mat size: 14" x 13". Includes a Certificate of Authenticity from Novaspace from a 2005 private signing.
(10) "What A Great Walk./ Charlie Duke/ Apollo 16". Mat size: 14" x 12".
(11) "The Day We Landed on The Moon/ in the Valley of Taurus Littrow....Apollo XVII/ Dec 11, 1972/ A Memorable & Proud Experience./ With my Best Wishes./ Gene Cernan/ Oct 1986". Mat size: 13" x 15".
(12) "The valley of Taurus-Littrow has one of/ the most magnificent vistas within/ the views and experiences of humankind./ The next great human adventure will/ be the settlement of Mars./ Harrison H Schmitt/ Apollo 17". Mat size: 13" x 15".
What a fabulous wall-sized display these would make for some lucky bidder's home or business. Certainly, no one else would have one just like it. Sadly, four of these noble explorers are no longer with us so creating another grouping like this is not possible. All mats are of archival quality and in excellent condition.
