Description

Apollo 16 Moonwalkers: Matching Signed White Spacesuit Color Photos. Two exceptional, professional quality 8" x 10" photos, featuring the Apollo 16 astronauts in their full training space suits posed before the mission insignia backdrop. John Young (Commander) boldly signs in black felt tip: "John Young/ 9th Man on the Moon/ Apollo 16". Charlie Duke (Lunar Module Pilot) also signs in black felt tip: "Charles M. Duke, Jr./ Apollo XVI LMP/ 10th Man to Walk on the Moon."

Both images are pristine examples of NASA's classic pre-flight portrait series, captured at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston circa 1972. Apollo 16, launched April 16, 1972, was the fifth lunar landing mission, and the first to explore the lunar highlands. Young and Duke conducted three extravehicular activities totaling over 20 hours on the Descartes Plateau, while Command Module Pilot Thomas Mattingly orbited above in Casper. Excellent.

Each photo is clean, crisp, and vividly signed, an outstanding matched pair representing two of only twelve men to have walked on the Moon. From the Collection of Dr. J. Colton Bradshaw
