Description

Apollo 13: Lunar Module Aquarius Photo Signed by James Lovell and Fred Haise, with Added Comments. A 10" x 8" B&W photograph on Fujicolor Crystal Archive paper of the Apollo 13 LM in space, boldly signed by both Commander James Lovell and Lunar Module Pilot Fred Haise in silver felt tip. The image depicts the spacecraft that famously served as a "lifeboat" during the perilous mission of April 1970, when an oxygen tank explosion crippled the Service Module and forced the crew to rely on the Lunar Module's power and life-support systems for survival. Signed at top: "'Aquarius' the Apollo 13 Lunar Module 'Life boat'/ Fred Haise / LMP/ 1970" and, below: "James Lovell/ Apollo 13 CDR". Very fine.

This signed photograph captures one of the most dramatic episodes in the history of space exploration, an iconic mission where quick thinking, ingenuity, and teamwork averted disaster and brought the crew safely home. Lovell and Haise have both emphasized the role of Aquarius in saving their lives, and this image directly commemorates that extraordinary chapter.
