Description

Space Shuttle Challenger (STS-51-L) Tragedy: Collection of Thirteen Original NASA Red Number Color Photos. All are 8" x 10" silk finish photos on Kodak paper with red ink NASA "worm" logos on the recto and purple ink press captions on the verso. The images track this ill-fated mission through pre-launch, launch, the accident, and the recovery of the wreckage. Due to the sensitive nature of these photos, we will only show two in the catalog or on our website: one of icicles and frost on the gantry during inspection and the other of the beautiful launch. These are being offered for their historical value. Please contact us for e-mailed scans of the other eleven photos. Very fine or better. From the Rudolf Spoor Collection of NASA Photography and Ephemera.
