UNMANNED SPACEFLIGHT

NASA Mariner 4: Group of Nineteen Original Official Photographs of the Planet Mars. An interesting collection of 8" x 10" glossy B&W "photographic representations of digital data radioed from Mars by the Mariner IV spacecraft." Mariner 4 was launched on November 28, 1964, and performed the first flyby of the "red planet" in mid-July. These vintage period photos are the first images of another planet returned from deep space. In 1965, these images excited the scientific community as well as the public. We have certainly come a long way in the intervening half-century with our technology. All have detailed ink captions on the verso. Excellent.
