Extremely rare
NASA Environmental Control System (ECS) Checkout Adapter Kit for
the LEM Made by Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation, Circa
1966-69. Over 30 parts contained in a 32" x 17" x 9.5" white
fiberglass case with aluminum reinforced edges, padded rubber
interior, two pressure locks and carrying handle. The outside of
the case bears a 4" NASA insignia decal and 2" Grumman decal
mounted to the front and large 7.25" x 12" inventory of parts panel
affixed to outside top lid. A 5.25" x 1.75" metal Grumman
nomenclature plate is affixed to the lid: "ECS CHECKOUT ADAPTER KIT
/ PART NO. LDW430-52200-1-4 SERIAL NO. 2 / DSGN CONT [blank] CONTR
NO. NAS 9-1100". The lid is also marked in black letters "Manned
Spacecraft Center". The parts have been collated with the inventory
list and all are present as called for. Most pieces remain in their
unsealed plastic bags and most have tags or markings with the part
number, dates ranging from 1966 to 1969, and most are marked with
Grumman's NASA contract number NAS 9-1100. This is the first of
these we've offered for sale and a cursory search failed to locate
any that have come to the collector market.
