NASA Astronauts: Eight Signed Letters with Philatelic Content. Here is a remarkable grouping of letters for those with interest in philatelic space material, as follows:
Pete Conrad: One page typed, NASA letterhead. 5.25" x 8", March 11, 1971, signed: "Charles Conrad Jr.". The three extra covers which you sent will make nice additions to our own personal collections..."
Fred Haise: One page typed, NASA letterhead, 8" x 10.5", March 10, 1971, signed "Fred W. Haise". In part: "I have autographed your stamps and they are being returned to you under separate cover. Many thanks for sending me the two blocks of stamps and the First Day Cover of Little America..."
Jim McDivitt: One page handwritten, plain stationery, 5" x 8", no date [November 1973], signed: "Jim". In part, "...I sign these because I like to. I don't want anything for it except your friendship...".
Harrison Schmitt: One page typed, NASA letterhead, 8" x 10.5", Jun 16, 1972, signed "Harrison H. Schmitt". In part: "...I wish that I could fulfill your request; however, due to difficulties we have had with such articles being sold for profit rather than being retained for personal collections, I must decline..."
Deke Slayton: One page typed, NASA letterhead, 8" x 10.5", February 15, 1963, signed "D K Slayton". In part: "The eight items you have sent have been received, but as yet have not been autographed by Major Cooper. Richard Truly: One page typed, NASA letterhead, 8" x 10.5", December 29, 1970, signed "Richard H Truly". In part: "I was delighted to receive the space covers you sent me, and of course happy to autograph the enclosed. I have collected stamps since I was a little boy..."
Al Worden: One page typed, personal letterhead, 8.5" x 11", December 5, 1985, to fellow astronaut Jim Irwin (who has initialed at top right), signed "Al". In part: "...I have not sold any covers to date, but I have started working with Bob Siegel in New York..."
