Description

Apollo Operations Handbook Block II Spacecraft NASA Book SM2A-03-BLOCK II-(1) Originally from the Personal Collection of Astronaut Gordon Cooper. Volume 1 Spacecraft Description. A 900+ page 8" x 10.5" five hole-punched book in its original large metal-hinged binder, dated 15 April 1969. A very rare and desirable volume containing literally hundreds of Illustrations and numerous foldout charts covering every aspect of the Apollo spacecraft. The foreword states: "Volume I of the Apollo Operations Handbook constitutes the description of all command service module systems. Volume 2 [also in this auction] is separately bound, and contains performance data and crew operational procedures. This document has been derived from the most current available Apollo Block II information, and its contents are restricted to the specific requirements of Block II vehicles SC 106 and subs unless otherwise noted." Apollo 10 was the flight of SC 106 and Cooper was the backup commander for that flight. This was likely used by him for reference. An amazing wealth of information. Fine.
