Description

Apollo 1 Crew-Signed NASA "Apollo Saturn Mission AS 202" Booklet Directly from the Personal Collection of Roger Chaffee's Daughter Sheryl. An 8" x 10.5" twelve-page illustrated booklet with stiff covers published at the John F. Kennedy Space Center. Its front cover bears large ink signatures of: "Gus Grissom", "Edward H. White II", and "Roger B. Chaffee". AS-202 was slated to be the last unmanned test flight, August 25, 1966, before the planned Apollo 1 manned launch six months later. A tragic fire during a January 1967 launch pad test took the lives of these three astronauts. This publication contains illustrated information about manned space flight history, the Saturn 1 launch vehicle, the Apollo spacecraft, the Marshall Space Flight Center, Manned Spacecraft Center, Kennedy Space Center, Launch Complex 34, as well as a detailed mission profile. A rare publication with a very desirable group of signatures and excellent provenance. Condition is about fine with some general toning and light wear; the back cover is creased and soiled.
