Description
Sylvania Large Satellite Despun Antenna Display Model. A 17" diameter x 17.5" deep drum-shaped device on a heavy 9" x 23.5" x 1.75" wooden base with the plaque: "Sylvania Electromechanical Despun Antenna for Applications Technological Satellite". A despun antenna in a rotating communications satellite has a main beam that is continuously directed with respect to the satellite so that it illuminates a given area on the earth's surface. This particular model originally had an electric cord attached. We assume that it was made to rotate on its axis when powered. We did not test it. An interesting item for display, approximately 26" tall overall. Very good condition.Auction Info
