Description
Space Shuttle Challenger (STS-51-L): Mission Commander Dick Scobee's Personally-Owned 1:144 Scale Model of the Shuttle with a Signed Letter of Authenticity from His Brother. This model made by "Toys & Models" sits on a wooden base and measures approximately 9.5'' x 6.5'' x 7'' tall overall. The Shuttle Challenger tragically disintegrated shortly after the launch of STS-51-L, its tenth mission, killing all seven aboard including Scobee. Very fine.Included with this lot is a Letter of Authenticity signed by James R. Scobee, Dick's brother. It reads, in part: "I certify that this is Dick Scobee's personally owned model of Challenger, the Space Shuttle he commanded during the STS-51-L mission when he lost his life..."
