Description

A sensational highly-detailed Vostok model

Soviet Vintage All-Metal Vostok Spacecraft Model Presented by the Soviet Union's First Eleven Cosmonauts in Space to Ivan G. Borisenko, Soviet Sports Commissar. An absolutely stellar model of the Vostok spacecraft with a sensational story. Standing approximately 7.5" tall, 9.5" long (not including the antenna projections), and weighing approximately 6 pounds. This particular model was presented to Soviet commissar Ivan G. Borisenko as a sign of appreciation from the first eleven cosmonauts to fly in space: Yuri Gagarin (Vostok 1); Gherman Titov (Vostok 2); Andriyan Nikolayev (Vostok 4); Valery Bykovsky (Vostok 5); Valentina Tereshkova (Vostok 6); Vladimir Komarov, Konstantin Feoktistov, & Boris Yegorov (Voskhod 1); and Pavel Belyayev, & Alexei Leonov (Voskhod 2). Borisenko was tasked with being the first to officially meet cosmonauts after their return from space, and also correcting and verifying the records of their flights. Adhered to the 9.5" x 4" base is a plaque that translates to: "To Dear Borisenko I.G. from the first selection of cosmonauts. 26.04.1971." This truly is a model that would be and excellent addition to any private or institutional collection. COA from Zelos Auctions in Moscow included. Appears to be missing one mount and two antennas to one side (easily repairable)., otherwise very fine.
