Description

SKYLAB, AMERICA'S FIRST SPACE STATION

NASA Early Skylab: Saturn Apollo Applications Cluster Configuration Vintage Marshall Space Flight Center 1/96 Model, with Separate CSM. A very rare engineering model from the Graphic Engineering and Models Branch at the George C. Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, 12.5" tall x 12" across the solar panels on a 5.5" square x 0.75" wooden base. This includes the S-IVB Orbital Workshop with a cut section showing the crew quarters and three astronauts, the Airlock, the Multiple Docking Adapter, a CSM, and two Solar Panels. This model was based on an early project of potential Apollo space missions. The Apollo Applications Program was developed in 1966 to further science based missions using Apollo program hardware but fell victim to budget cuts during the Johnson Administration and ultimately ended up being a precursor to the Skylab project. Moderate toning and wear, overall very fine. From The Private Collection of Belinda and Raymond Reyes.
