Description

M-1 Saturn Rocket Engine 1/40 Scale Model. A highly-detailed 10" tall metal model affixed to a 8" x 8" wooden base of the M-1 rocket engine which was conceived in the early 1960s by Aerojet as a high-thrust liquid hydrogen, liquid oxygen engine. The M-1 was intended for "post-Saturn" heavy-lift rockets, for the planned (but never flown) Nova class vehicles that would exceed the Saturn V in payload and capability. The engine featured an interesting cooling and exhaust design: the gas-generator exhaust was routed through cooling pipes in the lower engine skirt to extract extra thrust and reuse energy. Although the program was eventually canceled this outstanding model is a great reminder and example of what could've been. Extremely rare and the first of which Heritage has offered. Light age related wear, overall very fine.
