Description
Charlie Duke Signed Apollo-Style Lunar EVA Helmet Replica. A high-quality replica of the Apollo A7L-type lunar extravehicular visor assembly, modeled after the helmets worn by Apollo astronauts on the lunar surface. The piece features the familiar gold-coated polycarbonate outer visor for sun and glare protection, surrounded by the white Beta cloth sunshield assembly. The helmet measures approximately 13" in height, 13" front to back, and 11" across. Its structure closely follows the configuration of NASA's flown units. The mirrored visor is boldly hand-signed and inscribed by Apollo 16 Lunar Module Pilot Charlie Duke in black felt tip: "Charlie Duke/ Apollo 16 LMP/ 10th Man on the Moon/ April 16-27, 1972/ Descartes Highlands". A fabulous item for display. Very fine.Apollo 16 was NASA's fifth lunar landing mission, during which Duke became the tenth human to walk on the Moon and explored the rugged Descartes Highlands alongside mission commander John Young.
