Description

Ex. Sally Ride

Space Shuttle Challenger (STS-41-G) Flown Silver Robbins Medallion, Serial Number 27F, from the Personal Estate Collection of Mission Flight Engineer Sally Ride, with Letter of Authenticity. This 38mm x 42mm sterling silver medal was one of 105 flown on the 1984 mission, from a total of 233 minted. The obverse design features the mission insignia, an astronaut pin against a U.S. flag background showing thirteen complete stars (this was the thirteenth Shuttle mission). The astronauts' surnames are in two rows beneath, with gender symbols next to each; there is a Canadian flag next to Garneau's name (the first Canadian in space). The reverse includes the names of the crewmembers and the engraved launch and landing dates. The serial number is on the rim along with the sterling and Robbins hallmarks. Original case included. Uncommon; this is only the second flown example Heritage has offered. Estate LOA included. A beautiful example.
