Description

Ex. Alan Bean
Fifty-nine days in space

Skylab II (SL-3): Alan Bean's Flown Sunglasses Directly from His Family Collection, with Certificate of Authenticity. Manufactured by American Optical, 5½" size, 1-10 12K GF, with a NASA part number of "SEB12100033-201" and serial number of "66" printed on the right ear piece. To protect the astronaut's eyes from the extremely bright sunlight that could enter the windows of the spacecraft, each astronaut was provided with one pair of sunglasses for the mission. The original case is not present; the Texas State Optical case Bean kept them in is included. Some expected wear. Fine.

Included with this lot is a COA on Alan Bean's letterhead signed by daughter and Estate Executor Amy Sue Bean stating that these sunglasses flew on the mission and were in her father's possession until his death.
