Description

Worthy of the Smithsonian. . .

Michael Collins Apollo 11 Flown Personal Preference Kit, Signed and Certified by Michael Collins, Directly from His Personal Collection, with Handwritten and Signed Letter of Certification, CAG Certified and Encapsulated. Offered here is one of the most interesting and rare of all space-flown relics. Apollo astronauts were allowed to carry certain personal items that would fit into one of these Beta cloth bags: approximately 6" x 9" with a 2" gusset, with a metal grommet in a hole at top center with original drawstring present. The tag has printed "Kit Pilot's Preference/ PN SEB 12100018-202/ SN 1072". Collins has written on that tag: "Flown to the Moon/ aboard Apollo XI/ Michael Collins". One of Collins' Apollo 11 PPKs is in the Smithsonian collection; Heritage Auctions sold the other in a previous auction. Don't miss out on this one. Some wear and soiling, fine otherwise. CAG 1000461-002

Accompanying the bag is a handwritten and signed Letter of Certification on his notepaper: "This Personal Preference Kit (PPK) S/N 1072, flew to the moon aboard Columbia in July 1969, and has been in my personal possession ever since. Michael Collins Apollo XI CMP".
