Description

Gemini 10 Flown Flag of Poland Directly from the John W. Young Collection, with Letter of Certification. A 6.25" x 4" cloth flag that flew forty-three orbits around the Earth with crewmembers John Young and Michael Collins on Gemini 10 between July 18th and 21st, 1966. The flag's design, adopted in 1919, consists of two equal horizontal stripes, white over red. Very fine.

Included with this lot is a Letter of Certification signed by Young's widow, Susy Young. It reads, in full: "I hereby certify that the small size Country of Poland flag that accompanies this letter was flown aboard the Gemini 10 mission July 18-21, 1966. It has been a part of the John W. Young collection since returning from the mission. The flag package is sealed with a holographic tamper-proof label, #1733291, to ensure authenticity, that will display a residual honeycomb design without number if removed."
