Description
China Space Program: Shenzhou 6 Flown Commemorative Envelope with Full Beijing Notarial Certification, 2005. Rare flown postal cover carried aboard Shenzhou 6, China's second crewed space mission, launched October 12, 2005, from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center aboard a Long March 2F rocket. Produced internally by the Beijing Institute of Tracking and Telecommunications Technology, this envelope was one of only 25 examples flown and later recovered from the spacecraft's return capsule. The present example is serial number 0020, confirmed by a multi-page official notarial certificate issued by the Beijing Municipal Notary Office. The certificate documents the complete chain of custody, including the opening of the return capsule, inspection and removal of carried items, and verification of serial numbers and seals. The envelope bears appropriate commemorative postage and cancellations and is accompanied by its original explanatory text on the verso. Excellent.
Chinese flown material with this level of contemporaneous, government-issued authentication is exceptionally scarce. A cornerstone artifact from the early era of China's human spaceflight program. From the Family Collection of Jacques Bracke
