Apollo 9 Lunar Module Flown Insulating Foil Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Rusty Schweickart, Signed and Certified. A 2.75" diameter truncated Lucite cylinder, 3.25" tall overall. Enclosed inside is a triangular piece of Kapton foil, approximately 1.375" in size across the base, and a color mission insignia for Apollo 9. On the bottom of the mission insignia is the text: "2009/ Space/ Artifact/ Series/ This insulation was removed from the top hatch/ of the Apollo 9 Lunar Module Spider by astronaut/ Rusty Schweickart as he prepared the craft to be/ jettisoned while in Earth's orbit. Apollo 9 flew the first/ manned flight of the LM from March 3-13, 1969,/ bringing man closer to landing on the Moon./ This artifact is from the personal collection of/ [facsimile signature]/ Russell L. Schweickart/ Created exclusively by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation". Schweickart has signed on the back: "From my personal collection/ Rusty Schweickart". Pristine condition.
