Description

Ex. James McDivitt

Apollo 9 Flown Largest Size American Flag Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander Jim McDivitt, Signed and Certified, with Signed Certificate of Authenticity from Astronaut Central. A silk 17.75" x 11.5" U.S. flag neatly signed in black felt tip: "Flown on Apollo 9/ Jim McDivitt" on the second and third white stripes. This was the third manned Apollo mission, March 3-13, 1969, with crewmembers McDivitt, Dave Scott, and Rusty Schweickart aboard. It was the first flight of the Lunar Module. The testing accomplished during its ten days in low earth orbit proved the LM worthy of manned spaceflight, an important step in the race to a manned moon landing just four months later. Perfect for display. Flattened folds. Excellent.

Included with this lot is a COA from Astronaut Central signed by McDivitt, stating: "I certify that this item is from my personal collection, from my years as a NASA astronaut. It has flown in space."
