Description

Apollo 8 Flown Embroidered Mission Insignia Patch on Crew-Signed Presentation. A 4.5" x 4" mission insignia patch featuring a figure eight with the crew surnames encircles both the Earth and the Moon, adhered to a 6.5" x 7.75" presentation mat on which Frank Borman has written in black felt tip: "This patch was carried aboard/ the first manned lunar orbit spacecraft/ Apollo 8 Dec 21-27 1968/ Frank Borman". On each side of the triangular shape the crew members have signed in various inks: "Bill Anders", "James Lovell", and "Frank Borman". Framed to an overall 8.5" x 10". A wonderful flown memento from this important mission in which crewmembers Borman, Lovell, and Anders were the first humans to view the far side of the moon and the first to see earth from orbit around another celestial body. Flown Apollo 8 material rarely appears on the market and is incredibly desirable. A unique opportunity. Very fine. From the Family Collection of Jacques Bracke.
